0GE Top Load Washer Intermittently Spin Up, Wet Loads, Not Spinning
If you have a GE top load washing machine that is not spinning, intermittently not spin up, or has wet Loads of clothes in the tub after the cycle is done then you may need to update the software on your washing machine. Please check to see if your washing machines model number and serial number are in the affected lists below. These washing machines were manufactured between May 2015 and April 2018.

Serial numbers affected: HF – GL (May 2015 – April 2018)
Upon entering fault code test 1 in service mode, technicians will find out of balance fault 26 has been set. Washers will spin normally in service mode test 14, but will not spin outside of service mode.
Repair: Factory Service Technicians – Use NewFI to update washer software with latest version. Customer Care Technicians – Order Software Update Module (SUM) WH98R23015001 (PD00045310). Instructions to update software are included with the SUM.
If acceptable, consumers can update washer software on their own without an additional service call with a SUM.
This update fixes a falsely detected out of balance condition.
Software update version numbers will display as follows:
For models built beginning in 2015, software version 1.11.3.15, parametric version 3.15.1.0
For models built beginning in 2017, software version 2.11.5.26, parametric version 5.26.1.0

For model GTW460ASJ7WW, ser SH168775G, there is trouble with clothing in the washer when finished washing was still very wet (about 30% of the time). It appears it doesn’t always spin. If i get the software update module, how do i find the software to download?
The software is pre-loaded onto the software update module.

I purchased this awhile back and it didnt fix my issue. It still randomly spins fine and then sometimes wont. What usually fixes it is unplugging it for a day or so and then rewashing the entire load. GE customer service had never heard of this update being needed.
Melea, did you ever figure out what the issue was with yours? I did the update and it still doesn’t work. Then I ordered a new computer board and that did not fix the issue either.
I spent over $450 on repairs with GE two different factory techs. Replaced control board, shocks, water valve, lid switch, leveled the machine twice and did a firmware update. It would still not spin dry at all.
Here is what fixed it. When you level the machine do it with the lid up. Level it so the tub is centered in opening.
Disregard the fact that the machine itself might be level.
It has worked perfectly since.
I am currently having this problem. Sometimes it takes several drain and spin cycles before it finally spins dry. How do I get to the ethernet port in order to apply the update?
My washer was not spinning the load dry about 30% of the time. I purchased the updated module and installed and now it won’t spin dry at all. Where do I go from here?

Just purchased a GE top loading washer GTW720BSNOWS. When it goes through the last spin cycle the machine shakes/vibrates. I have followed all the instructions when adding the clothes. It’s not that its off balance. Any suggestions?

I HAVE MODEL GTW680BMM0WS and it seems to have the same problem.
It drained but then nothing happens. I don’t even get an error message. So there is no way for me to know what is the problem.
