It was worn out and leaking air horribly at the top!

A Phillips head screwdriver then a small screw gun.

My GE Upright deep freezer is 16 years old, and is well cared for. It has done as much travelling as I have. The gasket was getting very hard, and one day I noticed ice building up on the inside at the top of the door. I am a single mother, and left home at 17. I was smart and paid attention to friends, and boyfriends that had to fix things over the years. I am very independent and don't like to ask for help. A video or 2 on youtube, and I ordered the gasket. There was really nothing to it, I did it completely by myself, and was happy doing it. I forgot, since mine was leaking so badly. I had to take the door panel off, and replace the insulation. It was all frozen up and wet, and I got a small jewelry hammer and knocked it off. Luckily a friend had given me a roll of batting with plastic covering for a hot water heater, I was going to use on my garage doors, this winter. I scrubbed the plastic panel like a tup enclosure in the yard, put the batting inside it, then put the clear plastic the batting came rolled up in on the back of the shelves, and taped it on to create a barrier. I don't know why, but it sounded good to me. :) GOOD LUCK to ANY LADIES WHO DO THS! My advice~ Go ahead and be shocked when you see how much they cost, I was and I don't care what anyone says. $170 shocked me. But I love my freezer because it is old school and works great. So to me, it was worth it. I had forgotten when I bought it and what elated when I saw on the serial number March 2007. I am happy all the way around. It's not rusted from being on a porch in Florida heat, and the gasket fits perfect, the price well I am over it now. Great product, and fast shipping!

The new gasket was perfect and my freezer is working great.

Screw driver to remove the old and install the new.

Old gasket was cracked and began getting worse over time. Once I found this new freezer gasket I was abke to salvage my freezer.
