Problem
Was changing the direction that the door opened on a brand new washer using the plastic tool that GE supplied to move the door lock. While removing the plastic tool after re-installing the door lock, the tool broke in the locked door lock rendering the door lock unusable.
Tools
Screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
Advice- even though GE says to remove power to the washer while changing the door direction, after re-installing the door lock, try turning the power back on then push the button on the door lock to mimic a close door, wait till you here it click then gently pull the plastic tool out.

Repair & Advice
We purchased a new GE washer, went to switch door side. used tool that was supplied to "help" get door lock part out of washer. Once switched to other side and secured the "tool" used broke inside of door lock part. Locking mechanism did not work and could not close door. We had to purchase a new door lock part. My advice is to NEVER use that "tool" again and instead use your fingers or something else to hold part to secure into washer. I am very happy that we were able to procure a new part quickly and fix our washer. Thank you

Repair & Advice
The door reversal process is pretty easy and requires no special tools... but it's got one delicate part that can be easily broken and I broke it...
