We took down our almost new Samsung under cabinet microwave to hang new cabinets. In doing so, we stripped the screw and broke the support bracket, causing it to fall inside the microwave.

My husband and I are naturally handy people, but have never repaired any appliances (beyond clearing an error code on the dryer, with the help of YouTube). We took off the outside panel of our pretty much brand new microwave and, thankfully, we were able to locate the piece that had fallen inside. Replacing the support bracket was very easy once we ordered it and it arrived. One recommendation, if you have to remove the outer panel of your microwave and you are not immediately repairing it, screw it back into place so that it holds its shape, we found our sides were slightly bowed upon re-hanging as we left ours off while we waited for the part. (You can’t tell since it is hung with cabinets on each side, but if you will have a side exposed, it is important to keep the shape of the panel. Another thing, we thought we could get the mounting screws at the local hardware shop or even Home Depot or Lowe’s and that is not the case, so, if your screws might be stripped, definitely order new ones when you order the bracket as they are hard to find as well.

I decided to install my microwave myself. In doing so, I miscalculated the measurements by 1/2 inch. This caused me to have to adjust and adjust until finally I decided to remove the microwave and start all over. When I did this, I completely stripped the bracket that fastens the microwave to the cabinet above. I ordered my new bracket from the Parts Dr. It arrived within 3 days or so. It took me about 20 minutes to remove the cover of the microwave and replace the bracket and install the microwave properly. Long story short, measure twice, cut once!! Thank you Parts Dr.! The part was exactly what I needed! And the price was excellent!
