Repair & Advice
It would have been nice if the part came with installation instructions. It did not, but I was able to find some videos on YouTube which provide general instructions on replacing a microwave handle. Here's the steps I took for installation on a Samsung mircrowave.
1) Open the microwave door. Use a putty knife to gently pry the liner trim inside the microwave door. You need to go all the way around the trim to pop the liner off of the connection point it snaps into.
2) Remove the old handle by removing the top and bottom bolts using a Phillips screwdriver. The bolts heads are accessible from the inside of the door once the trim is removed. A screwdriver which is longer and thin works best to fit into the narrow cavity in the door. One with a magnetic tip is also useful to make it easier to get the bolts in and out. Hold onto the bolts you remove, because the part did not come with new bolts.
3) Fit the new handle in place. You should note that the top and bottom connection points of the handle have different shapes. The top fits over a small nub.
4) Use one of the bolts to connect the top of the handle first. Don't tighten completely until after you have screw in the bottom of the handle.
5) Use the other bolt to attach the bottom of the handle.
6) Tighten the bolts enough so that the handle is tight against the outside of the microwave door, and there is no movement side-to-side.
7) Replace the inside door trim by snapping it in place. Start at the hinge side of the door, then the top and bottom, and then the handle/latch side. Make sure the trim is flush with the inside and snapped in at all points.
You are done!
