Inner steel basket was rubbing door boot causing smoke.

Philips head screwdriver, adjustable wrench, pliers, socket set, at least a 10in extension for socket set and tool for door boot spring.

I would recommend a technician do this job but if you want to DIY then just YouTube a video with your model number because there are so many things you have to undo and take apart.

My Samsung front loader was making a horrible racket and clunking sound on the final spin and would take an hour as it tried to rebalance many times. In the end, clothes still came out very wet and heavy and took a couple of hours to dry.

I needed a phillips screwdriver, channel locks, socket set,and a couple of small flathead screwdrivers to help get the wire ring on that holds the rubber boot to the front panel. I also had to buy some Thread Lock for many o the bolts,

There are good videos on line about how to change the flange (or spider arm). Watch those and you will fine. It took a while,maybe six or seven hours. Tip #1: My washer had a design change, so there are actually two sets of parts for my model number. Find the manual for your washer online and Samsung provides a really handy diagram and list of part numbers. I didn't do this and went by the part recommended for my model, and my current flange shaft had a threaded shaft for a nut (male end), but the first flange assembly I got sent to me had a threaded hole for a bolt (female end). Parts Dr, traded it out quickly and for no cost, but good to check that before you try to install. It was no one's fault, jut that Samsung made some washers with my model number one way, then changed it up. Tip #2: The washer was about ten years old and it was super nasty inside the outer drum and in the parts of the dispenser drawer you don't see and in many of the hoses, as well as the outside o the stainless drum. Get some good cleaners and allow yourself plenty of time to take advantage of this opportunity to clean the heck out of the washer.
