Part Description

Refrigerator complete ice maker assembly with housing, 7 cube.  This ice maker is a new updated design that increases the clearance to the ice room wall to help remedy ice jams and help with ice harvesting.  The ice level feel arm arm has also been updated for improved ice harvesting. Fits some GE model refrigerators manufactured by Samsung.  This is a new GENUINE Samsung replacement part.

Note:  This ice maker has the words "Model: IMC701" written on the bottom of the ice maker.  Since there are multiple IMC701 ice makers, you should go by the part number on the bottom right hand corner of the blue tag on the bottom of the ice maker.

Problem

Ice maker stopped making ice. Ice tray would fill with water then but nothing more. A buzzing was heard from the ice maker. I suspect that the heater element that heated the ice just before dumping was not working. New ice maker solved the problem.

Tools

Phillips screw driver, flat edge small screwdriver

Repair & Advice

1. Turn off refrigerator by unplugging. 2. Open left refrigerator door. 3. Remove ice bin by releasing the lever on side of bin. 4. Remove small phillips screw on the left side in the middle of ice compartment in the front. 5. Use the straight edge screw driver to pry out access cover. Cover will slide out once the front portion is pried from the housing. 6. Once cover is removed, unplug the second (inside) wire clip (with wires leading to the ice maker) by squeezing the clip. 7. Push the plastic lever located at the top of the ice maker while gently pulling the ice maker toward you. 8. The ice maker will come free and you can remove as you free the wire leading to the unit with it. 9. Assembly is in the reverse order.

Problem

In-door ice dispenser stopped making ice. It was first sporadic in ice production, and then eventually stopped completely.

Tools

Philips head screwdriver, Good lighting

Repair & Advice

Unplug the fridge from the wall and turn off the water supply. Open the fridge and remove the ice collecting tray. Use the Philips screwdriver to remove the screw on the left that holds a panel in place - this panel covers the wiring harness, i.e. the plug and cable to the ice maker. Depress the spring at the top and remove the faulty ice maker, sliding it forwards and down. Put the new ice maker in by reversing the last few steps; place it in the correct position ensuring that the wiring does not catch anywhere, reconnect the connector, replace the panel and retaining screw. (You will need to push the ice maker back until the spring clicks back into place.) Plug the fridge back in and turn the water back on. At this point open the fridge and press the "Test" button near the top front of the ice maker - look at the faulty one for reference if needed. Replace the ice maker tray and close the fridge back up - wait up to 10 minutes, you should hear a sound that indicates that the ice maker is being reset. New ice should begin production soon, you will most likely hear the water being drawn in. It may take longer if the refrigerator got warm during the repair. Done! Enjoy.

Problem

Icemaker stopped producing ice, but made loud clicking sound every few seconds for several minutes. Before it stopped producing ice, the ice bin would get too full, the icemaker would jam, and the clicking would start until I cleared the ice jam.

Tools

Phillips screwdriver and flat blade tool to pry open side panel.

Repair & Advice

Parts Dr made this job really easy and affordable. I almost ordered the icemaker from GE before I found Parts Dr online. Part Dr offered the same part as GE but for half the price and it was delivered to my house in two days (on a National holiday). The success stories on the Parts Dr website convinced me I could do this job easily and quickly. I won't repeat the "how tos" because several others have already done so probably better than I could. I installed the new icemaker in about 10 minutes and it has worked great ever since. Thank you Parts Dr!
