Repair & Advice
I have a double oven (Modern Main) about 20+ years old. Top oven has both broil and lower oven burners and we use that all the time. Once before I had a problem with it taking a long time before igniting (gas valve needs proper voltage, which doesn't happen unless ignitor is glowing enough...change in resistance and so then the valve will open). You get about 5 years or so of heavy use and then you need to change these. Often a problem with HVAC heating furnaces, btw. The lower oven was still working okay, but I did order 3 ignitors just so I could refurbish that oven at some point if and when needed. I guess the main thing that took time was cleaning the oven itself! I took the time to also Brillo pad the racks and spray oven cleaner on all the walls, clean/scrape razor the glass window clean, and even replace the appliance bulb. THEN I replaced the ignitors for both top broiler and bottom burner. BE VERY CAREFUL when handling the ignitors. They are FRAGILE. I knew that and never had a problem, but I have heard stories of people thinking they are metal or something and they will just snap in half. You do reuse your metal guard, btw. I re-cut/stripped the wires from oven so they would be fresh. There is plenty of wire coming from the oven (yes, you do need to pull them gently out of the hole in the metal enclosure). I just cut off 1/2", and reused the ceramic wire nuts. You could buy new wire nuts, but I never did. Also, although the ceramic ones are best, in a pinch you can use regular ones. I've never seen any melt. The wires do tuck pretty far back in the housing and aren't that susceptible to heat. Still, if you can use the ceramic ones, do it. Don't use electrical tape. That will melt! Gently push the wires back in and screw the housing/support for ignitor back on and you are finished!

Problem
Broiler igniter was out on my oven.
Tools
Multi meter and a Phillips head screwdriver. (Multi meter just to confirm it was a faulty igniter and not the control panel.)
Repair & Advice
Easy as pie. And I am no skilled repairman. Just a average homeowner. Got the part at a fair price, it was shipped fast. Bingo. Done. Happy wife.
