Repair & Advice
The oven door hinges were bent as if someone had walked into or fallen on the open door and this caused the door to not close properly. Cooking was challenging because the heat didn't stay contained. I watched several videos online and decided I could change the hinges myself. (Unplug the oven first, just in case!) I'm the handywoman in my house and after watching the videos, I was pretty confident I could do it. I checked many websites for the part. The hinges are fairly expensive - between $55 and $100+ per hinge. I did not want to spend that much and find out it wasn't going to work so I was a bit apprehensive. Some sites said it was a special order part so it was going to take several weeks to arrive. I found Parts Dr. and was very happy to order my hinges from them. The hinges were in stock and could arrive very quickly, the price was reasonable, but the thing I probably liked the best was when I looked up my part and there was a place to put in my oven's model number. I did that, and the site said "This part will fit your oven!" so that convinced me. The part arrived promptly and though I was a little worried because the screw holes didn't seem to be in the exact same places as my old ones, I tried it anyway and it worked perfectly. I did have to watch several more videos to figure out exactly how to put the oven door back on, and honestly that was the hardest part. The rest was just common sense. Overall though, I couldn't be more pleased with the result, the oven door fits exactly right, heat no longer escapes out the sides. Extremely happy with my purchase. Thanks, Parts Dr.!
