- Water Inlet Valve
CustomerHugo from NY
Washer would not fill. Did not hear it filling when turned on and waited 5’ or so. (Heard it go through the usual brief drain mode but then did not fill.)
Medium flat head screwdriver, standard pliers, and a pair of adjustable gas pliers.
Repair & Advice
1) Shut off power for the D/W on your breaker panel and closed water supply speed valve under kitchen sink which feeds the D/W. Gently pull out D/W making sure AC power cord and drain hose and water supply hose have enough free play to allow unit to be pulled out without strain or snagging. 2) Disconnect the water supply hose at back of unit. Gently pry open the top of the plastic snap in supporting plate that holds the water inlet supply connection (which is actually end of the water inlet valve). Carefully pull the assembly out of unit far enough to clear the back of the unit to be able to access the snap connector of the electric supply to the water inlet valve. 3) Lift the water inlet valve upwards out of the supporting plate. Press in the click-release on the water inlet valve’s electric connector and free it form the wore harness socket. With pliers lessen the tension on the wire clamp that holds to water hose on the inside of the D/W to the water inlet valve. Work the wire clamp back off the valve about 2” so you can work the hose off the valve nipple. This requires some effort and care. Once done you can remove the old inlet valve completely. 4) Carefully reverse the above process to install the new valve. Reconnect the water supply hose to the valve. Do not overtighten. Push the unit it back into place taking care not to cinch drain hose or water supply, etc.. 5) Fully open the D/W water connection supply speed valve under you sink and then turn on the power at the breaker panel. Run the dishwasher on a short cycle. You should hear the water fillling the unit after it does a few self checks or perhaps a brief drain mode. Once you hear the filling you will know you have succeeded in fixing the water inlet problem, and your D/W should work fine again.
