Repair & Advice
After removing front cover and tipping washer back and propping it up, this is a very easy repair. I had replaced both belts from the bottom of unit which didn't repair the issue initially. In doing so I realized the drain pump was very hard to turn so I knew it was toast. It's held in with 3 small hex screws that come up from the bottom. After receiving the part that only took two days to get here, it was a straightforward and easy repair. There was a discrepancy as to whether this part would fit our very old A412 Maytag washer. It is an exact replacement. The washer is now quiet again and works great. This is the first time we have ever had a problem with this washer which is built like a tank. We have owned this for close to 30 years and we actually bought it used originally. I will never get rid of this machine unless it literally explodes! You might remember the "lonely Maytag repairman" commercials, they used to run on TV? Well, appliances like this, is what they were referring to!
