Expensive part but easy repair. Use flat butter knives to press tabs and remove board unit from freezer plastic housing w/light and buttons. Replaces part # W10701910

Freezer not cooling properly

My upright freezer wasn't cooling properly (not freezing). I had a repair man come out. He diagnosed that the circuit board was not sending the message to the defrost to stop defrosting. Was quoted over $600.00 to replace the part that they said was $440.00 alone. Parts Dr. had the part for about half that.

Problem
Freezer would only get down to 20*F. Items were frozen, but some were soft. After freezer would run it would chime signaling the fast freeze mode was complete. The freezer temp display would default to showing 3 snowflakes meaning it was in fast freeze mode.
Control board was possibly damaged by lightning, static or an electrical surge that affected several other electronics in our house.

Easy repair. Removed cover, disconnected the wire harnesses, removed faulty control board and replaced with new. Reconnected wire harnesses and reinstalled cover.
