Problem
We have one of those Whirlpool Cabrio washers with the glass / plastic lid that ALWAYS breaks in the left rear corner.
Tools
It's either a Phillips head screwdriver or a Torx bit. Can't remember. No fancy special tools required.
Repair & Advice
Super simple replacement of the lid. You will need two lid hinges to complete the job.
Lift the old lid and use a Phillips head screw driver to remove the two screws from EACH side of the old lid. Screws are accessed from the outside lip of the lid, down near the hinge points. With all 4 screws removed, lift the lid straight up and the old hinges will remain in the base of the washer. The old hinges will just slid out if their holes. Throw the old lid and hinges away. Keep the screws from the old lid and the rubber bushings in the hinge holes!
Take one of the new "L shaped" hinges and install it on the INSIDE of the new lid, with the short leg of the hinge sticking through the hole on the lid. Use the same screws removed from the old lid and secure the new hinge to the lid. Screws go on the outside edge of the lid, through the holes and into the hinge. With one hinge now fixed to the lid, slide the short leg of the hinge into the hole on the washer through the rubber bushing. Take the second hinge and insert it into the hole of the lid on the opposite site. Repeat the process of fixing the hinge to the lid with the two remaining screws. That's it.
