The dishwasher circulation pump and motor assembly includes the sump, circulation pump, and diverter motor. It is most commonly replaced if water is leaking from the diverter motor or if the circulation pump fails. The circulation pump motor circulates water through the wash arms to clean the dishes. Most commonly, when the circulation pump fails, water will stop circulating completely. But also when the pump fails, it can circulate but not with full power. Or the pump motor can get noisy or leak water. The diverter motor and diverter disc are used to alternate the water from the lower spray arm to the upper spray arms. If the diverter motor fails the dishwasher may not clean properly.
