Refrigerator dispenser agitator stuck in the on position. Water and Ice going everywhere. I ordered a new one.

no tools used as I have done nothing. The old part began working again.

The issue resolved itself as the old part started working again properly. So I have not used the part you sent me but will keep it in reserve as I expect it will happen again.

First, all appliances are terribly manufactured these days. It’s an American Corporation creation of a throw-away society! Whether by planned obsolescence or incompetence within manufacturing and engineering, they all seem to be garbage. I will NOT get fooled by Whirlpool’s “Proudly made in the USA” and purchase the cheapest appliances I can get until we get back on the right track. Of 7 Whirlpool Gold appliances, none made it beyond 5 years without requiring significant repairs at significant costs. Our 2002 model contractor grade Whirlpool appliances cost me $15 in 12 years, so I stepped up and got behind them on their “Gold” platform. Never again. We went 93 days before the microwave quit heating. Four repairs later, we replaced it and very shortly after, a washer, a dishwasher and an oven. Garbage! This repair saved me some cash and allowed me to not have to wait 1+ month for a service/repair call. Easy with Parts Dr. Will do it again, if needed.

Water and ice would continually dispense.

Nut driver and flat blade screwdriver

My kids called me one afternoon saying the water wouldn’t stop flowing from the refrigerator dispenser. Pretty quickly narrowed it down to the dispenser “pad” or the display board. Upon disassembly, it was discovered that the “pad” uses two small plastic pieces to act as springs to disengage the pad from the dispenser switch (part of the pad assembly). These two plastic pieces had broken after years of use. Ordered and installed new pad. Problem was resolved. Overall, an easy repair. My biggest concern was being careful not to break the display while removing it. The video on partsdr.com very clearly showed where to place a flat blade screw driver to remove this panel.
