Bad control panel on maytag dishwasher. Which I heard is common with my particular model.

Very easy repair. Took off old control panel unhooked 3 wires and reconnected to new control panel . Repair man wanted 400 for part and install. Not the control panel and installed myself for 165

Lights on front panel were not lighting up, start button not triggering washer to start

Most of the buttons on our original panel stopped lighting up and the start button also did not work. Our washing machine was completely out of service. We purchased and installed a new front panel and our dishwasher is working like new again!

Allen/star wrench

The front panel was very easy to remove and replace. I have no prior experience and am only moderately "handy". I did it by myself although it would have been easier with an assistant. Start by cutting off power to the dishwasher. Get all your parts and tools together within easy reach. I found it helped to be seated on a chair directly in front of the washer and lowering the front door into my lap. 1. Simply remove the top 6 screws that attach the front panel to the dishwasher's front door using Allen wrench or star wrench. Front panel will separate from the door, but there will be wires that are still connected and will limit mobility. Take care not to damage these wires by over-extending the front panel from the door. 2. Depress plastic tabs to remove the plastic cover from the inside of the old front panel to reveal internal electronic control board. 3. Depress plastic tabs to release the electronic control board. 4. Note (with a photograph) the positioning of the ribbon cable connector to the electronic control board. (Note that 1 pin is outside the connector.) 5. Carefully, detach ribbon cable from control board. 6. Now reverse steps to install new front panel. 7. Attach control board to the ribbon cable of new front panel being careful to align pins as it was with the old panel. 8. Re secure the electronic control board to the front panel tabs. 9. Replace the plastic cover over the control board. 10. Reattach front panel to front door. 11. Treat yourself for saving $500 on a new dishwasher!
