Problem
We bought Kitchenaid stove, microwave, and refrigerator with red medallion handles, and wanted to upgrade the handle on our older Kitchenaid dishwasher to match. Since we also needed a new towel rod, decided to make that match as well.
Tools
Sawzall and jig saw with metal cutting blades, grinding wheel, socked wrench.
Repair & Advice
Bought two handles, and needed to cut down both of them to fit. The dishwasher was easy, since the mounting hardware on the door worked fine. The towel rod was a little more challenging: I had to purchase two lag screw/machine screw combinations. Sank the lag screw end into the wall, then attached the mounts to the machine screw end sticking out of the wall. Attached the handle onto the mounts: instant designer towel rod!

Tools
Simple Allen wrench
Repair & Advice
The risk of replacing the handle was worth it for I did not know it would fit. It did and looks great
