Ohm meter, adjustable wrench, screw driver and some pipe dope.
Repair & Advice
My whirlpool accubake gas oven bake and broil burner would not light one day. After a little online research, everything pointed to the gas valve, since it is very uncommon for both igniters to go bad at the same time. After disconnecting the electrical plug to the stove and turning the gas to the closed position, I checked the ohm reading on the electrical tabs coming out of the gas valve from bake to common and broil to common. One read 203 ohms and the other read 0 ohms. This indicated a bad gas valve. I searched online for the best price (and best reviews) on the gas valve and landed on partsdr.com. I placed my order and received the part in 4 days. After receiving the part, installation was very easy. I disconnected the electricity to the stove first, turned the gas to the closed position and then disconnected electrical igniter wires from the three tabs on the gas valve. I then disconnected the the three gas lines coming in to the back of the gas valve and then unscrewed the gas valve from the stove's back panel. The gas valve then came right out. I then needed to remove a coupler that screwed into the main gas port in the old gas valve. This coupler receives the flexible gas line coming from the wall. After cleaning off the old teflon tape from the male end of the coupler, I applied some pipe dope to the male end and screwed it into the new gas valve AFTER setting the new valve in position and screwing it back onto the stoves back panel. I then reconnected the three gas lines to the new valve, reconnected the three igniters wires, plug the stove back in and turned the gas back on and everything fired up perfectly! Stove repair complete!
