Problem
Lights were on all the time on the touchpad panel and nothing would work. Comments on the internet suggested it was a bad keypad so I ordered a new one.
Tools
A torx screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
I removed the 6 torx screws that held on the keypad assembly. There is a black plastic piece between the 2 screws in the top middle. With a slight push the keypad is loosened. There is a module in the center and a printed circuit board that must be removed from the old keypad and replaced in the new one. There were some plastic tabs that held them in place. Very easy to remove. The only electrical piece that needed to be removed was the ribbon cable connecting the keypad to the printed circuit board. I just used my fingers and pushed on the block at the end of the ribbon cable in different places to slowly remove the cable from the board. Probably not so critical to be gentle because the ribbon cable is attached to the old keypad assembly that is thrown away. Note how the ribbon cable is under the circuit board so when you install the old circuit board in the new keypad assembly it will be correct. I never removed the other cables connecting the circuit board and center module to the dishwasher. The circuit board and center module snap back in place easily. Then replace the keypad assembly and screw it in place.
After unscrewing the old keypad module and pulling it off it will only be attached by cables that run from the dishwasher to the center module and circuit board, so you may keep the door open so the keypad can rest on the floor while you remove the center module, circuit board, and ribbon cable.
I have seen pictures of the same dishwasher where there is a cover over the center module and circuit board. Mine did not have one. Maybe the previous owner removed it. Removing the cover to expose the center module and circuit board would be an extra step. Probably not too hard.

new Motherboard & Torx bit
Repair & Advice
We knew that the issue involved the motherboard since the lights were all out of sync.
In attempt to have repaired by appliance specialist and telling him what was going on, he confirmed our suspicion and we were going to have him repair our dishwasher but he advised he could not get the new motherboard ordered from his supplier for some reason and had no clue when he could expect to receive the part. SO my wonderful husband started trying to find one and VOILA!!! PARTS DOCTOR APPEARED AND THIS PART WAS AVAILABLE!!! In the Reviews we discovered the replacement was easy to accomplish and so we ordered the part.
The part was delivered the VERY NEXT DAY!!!
Needless to say, PROBLEM SOLVED AND THE BEST PART OF ALL:
WE WERE ABLE TO SAVE $300!!! That repairman quoted us $450 to replace it!
THANK YOU PARTS DOCTOR!!! I would rate you a 10+ STARS COMPANY!
