I have a Whirlpool cabrio washer with the glass lid. The lid frame cracked and it would not sit flush on the washer. The lid had been changed once before for the same problem. So I decided to take the recommendation of another person who had the same problem. So I bought the all metal lid as a replacement. It fits just perfect and the repair was really easy too.

I had the same problem that so many Cabrio owner have - the glass lid cracked at the hinge - whirlpool claims the only solution is to buy another glass lid from them - the new lid also cracks. This metal lid fits perfectly. There are other posts that tell you what screws and hinges to order along with the lid. Took about 20 minutes to remove old and replace new. An added benefit: I think it looks better than the glass lid. A great big thanks to everyone who posted this solution to a common problem!

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio Clothes Washer, Model WTW5000DW5. It had a glass lid with a very fragile plastic frame which eventually cracks and breaks after only a few months with normal use. The defect has been noted by several others in online posts. I have replaced the lid twice, with the same results each time. The Defective lid is Parts Dr. Part # PD00036288 (Mfg # W11101059). After doing some research I found that a lesser expensive model of the Cabrio washer (WTW7000DW1) has a METAL lid (Parts Dr. PART# PD00041970, MFG# W11098825) which will directly replace the glass lid and fits exactly. Note you must also replace the (Qty 2) inexpensive hinge pins (PART# PD00028413, MFG# WP8563964) and (Qty 4) screws (PART# PD00003271, MFG# WPW10119828). This was a very easy 15 minute job. I have always had great service from Parts Dr. but their Customer Support Rep I spoke with was not aware of this easy direct replacement. I hope this will help others in the future.
