Refrigerator was not getting cold

Flat & Philips head screwdriver
Repair & Advice
Refrig was not getting cold, compressor was not running. Manually turned the shaft of defrost timer using a small blade flathead screwdriver and compressor came on and was working properly (getting cold). New Defrost timer was same form/fit/function as the original. Easy to replace: Unplug the refrig, remove two Philips head screws from bottom cover of defrost timer/thermostat, remove two temperature control knobs (refrig & freezer), unsnap the plastic face plate that is behind the two knobs and remove two additional philips head screws, remove the two screws holding the defrost timer to the plastic plate, unplug the connector from the timer. Installation is reverse of procedure.
Would definitely recommend Parts Dr to anyone looking for refrigerator parts, fast delivery, good price, and excellent customer service dept.!

Repair & Advice
After much research on the internet I was pretty sure the problem was in the defrost system. On my 3-year old Amana fridge I was able to limit the problem to (3) components consisting of a timer, heater coil and thermostat. I contacted PartsDr and ordered all three items to be on the safe side. Thinking the problem was most likely the timer I changed it and found it to be the problem. Since it did not use or need the other (2) parts I have sent them back for credit. Thanks for the assistance, prompt service and good prices on these items. You might recall that a few years ago I had a problem with my Samsung refrigerator water valve assembly which I was able to correct as well.
