Repair & Advice
My side by side has water and ice in the freezer door. I open the refrigerator half only to find water in the bottom. I had to pull the refrigerator away from the wall to turn off the water, then cleaned up the water with a couple of towels. I then removed the lower crispers and shelves.
If you look closely, the water tank lines go through the shell of the refrigerator, then go up to the freezer. I cut the existing lines as long as possible and remove the old unit. It had a leak in a section of the tubing. I took the new unit and held it up to the old unit in determined where I needed to cut the tubing to fit up to the old tubing.
I purchased a couple of shark bites of the correct diameter and dress the ends of the tubing up so I could connect the old tubing to the new tubing with the shark bite. There was no way I could remove all the tubing back to the end. The shark bites work very well. Just follow the instructions.
The tubing is very slippery and hard to hold in your hands, so I put some latex gloves on to gain grip on the tubing.
