Repair & Advice
This is the second time in 20 years this timer has gone bad. Due to the age of the unit I didnt want to make a big parts investment. But the compressor seemed to work fine and the unit got plenty cold when running. Replacing the defrost cycle timer in this fridge is very simple requiring only a screwdriver to open up the panel in the box to gain access to the timer. The timer is held in place by plastic clips (Caution! dont over bend them releasing the old timer as they may snap off.) then I just unplugged the old timer and plugged in the new part. The $35 timer saved me the $600 expense of replacing the whole fridge. If i get another year or two out of this unit I will consider myself ahead.
