Problem
Dishwasher randomly start shutting off with display blank at start of cycle
Tools
Torx driver, digital voltmeter
Repair & Advice
Dishwasher would fill at turn on and then at the start of wash cycle would just stop with the display going blank. Upon hitting the cancel button, the unit would correctly drain for the 2 minutes. After removing AC power from the unit, access to the front panel can be had by removing the side torx screws. The cover to the control board is removed by removing one screw. To determine if the motor was OK, I removed the connector at the control board that goes to the motor. The motor can then be checked with an ohmmeter to make sure it is neither shorted or open. A low single ohm reading (but not less than one) validates a properly working motor. The high-limit thermostat can be tested if need be by boiling water and while monitoring with thermometer, safely lowering the switch into the water, all the while monitoring the two contacts with an ohmmeter (audible setting is easier). Verification that the switch is normally closed but opens at the proper temperature (check schematic of dishwasher) will determine whether it needs replacement. The dishwashers onboard diagnostics can also be run. Follow the diagnosis as it relates to the location and number of LED flashes. My dishwasher showed a low motor current error. After verifying that the motor and series connected components related to the motor's electrical path were good, the remaining component left was the control board. I removed the control board and drove the onboard relays with a power supply to verify that they were OK (hoping they weren't so that I could just replace the relay and save a little $). I also checked the relay drive transistors, diodes, etc. All were fine. A design engineer by trade, if I would have had a schematic of the control board I would have been able to determine what component was bad. But I searched without success for the schematic. So time=$ and I just ordered a new control board, popped it in, reconnected everything, plugged the AC back in, attached the water line to the water valve, and turned it on with obvious success (since the simple path to the motor and all other chassis components were good). Hope this helps the next person with a similar problem. Troubleshooting takes a little bit of time. The actual board replacement is trivial. Connection points can be 'live' so make sure the dishwasher is unplugged from the AC before repairing.

Repair & Advice
Easy as pie to accomplish replacement of Control Board and after then ordering a new latch assembly also, the dishwasher works just fine.
