Repair & Advice
Spend the extra money and buy this part. It was a 1:1 replacement and no question an OEM part. Some parts you can get away with going cheap but not a part like this. So take the advise of the old guy just spend the extra $.
I am a fairly skilled handyman and the replacement of this part took me about 2 hours, that said I can be methodical and exacting when replacing parts like this. It can be accomplished by a novice by simply following some online videos, just take your time and check that you have everything aligned and properly positioned. When you put the snap ring back on check all the way around it to ensure the seal is properly captured. Again, just take your time and check your work.
While you are down there under your washer there is a part that you should really clean out that has nothing to do with the seal replacement. It is the source of the stench that maybe coming from your washer. Cleaning it will involve water so be prepared with a shallow pan to catch the water when you unscrew it.
When you remove the lower cover from your washing machine, staring you straight in the face will be what appears to be a drain plug. It is much more than that, as it is a catch that prevents items from your wash from getting jammed up in your drain pump. Unscrew it slowly and let the water run into your pan. After it has drained remove it completely and dump it out. It will be gross, wear gloves. Additionally it is in 2 pieces and the really nasty stuff gets in between the catch and the "drain plug" so pull this apart and clean it out. I hit mine with a lot of bleach based cleaner to ensure the stench was killed.

I had a maintenance check for my washer. "Somehow" the boot began to leak. It became a repair appointment. The boot was backorder for several weeks (and still is). Parts Dr. OVERNIGHTED the part. I have my washing machine again. I would STILL be waiting on the part. Thank you Parts Dr. ! You came through!!
