The repair took us a couple of tries. First we replaced the belt and idler pulley (horrible shrieking) We cleaned it all up and noticed the jumper wires were damaged repaired them. Put it back together and then the heat went out. We replaced the termostat, thermal fuse and melted jumper wires. Put it back together then the jumper wires melted again. We replaced the heating element and the fuse and thermostat and jumper wire while we were at it to be on the safe side, Now it is working great (knock on wood). The hardest part is pulling and replacing the drum and belt (and diagnosing the problem!). Pulling the drum is definitely a 2 man job for novice repair folk.
