Problem
Appliance: GE side by side fridge, freezer on bottom, water and ice dispenser in the door. 2011 model. The water dispenser was dispensing 1/2 glass of water, then making an awful, loud hammering sound.
Tools
Phillips screwdriver, 2 small crescent wrenches.
Repair & Advice
Followed the troubleshooting directions on Parts Dr. Filter was fine. Putting on filter bypass did not make a difference, so I ordered this part. It was very easy to replace by following instructions on YouTube. Took about an hour, and I am a bit slow, double checking each step. Fixed the problem!

Problem
Water Filter Housing - Flow Valve Failed
Tools
Screwdriver, wrenches
Repair & Advice
GE French door water supply (filter housing) failed with the ability to deal with high water pressure. A replacement filter housing was needed. Bought part from supplier and repair was moderate.
Roll Fridge Out
Locate water supply and isolate (turn water off)
Get bucket to catch water
Disconnect hoses with wrenches
Remove hose clamps and housing with screwdriver
Remove filter housing in fridge (need assistance to pull hoses)
Replace housing, reverse process.
Used Teflon tape (plumbers tape) to seal connections
Worked great. Need to be able bodied enough to crouch in cramped space and knowledgeable to isolate water supply.

Problem
Water head leaking
Tools
Screwdriver adjusting wrench
Repair & Advice
Pull fridge out to get to the back of it. Take lower back cover off of refrigerator. There are two lines going from the house water and the refrigerator up to the water head filter. You need to use an adjustable wrench to loosen and take off those two lines. Remove two screws on the back of the refrigerator holding the two lines in place. Two screws hold the water had filter inside the refrigerator. They need to be removed and then you can pull the piece out from inside the refrigerator. Complete reverse to install the new part
