Problem
Broken water filter housing. The filter install/removal door broke off the housing.
Tools
Pliers, screw drivers, socket driver, flashlight and pocket knife.
Repair & Advice
The task required was to remove the old filter housing and install a new one. There were no instructions with the part. The biggest trick is beveling the mounting tabs on the new filter housing. (See Step 7) With these instructions and hints, I estimate the job at 30 to 45 minutes.
1: Pull the refrigerator out and turn off the water supply to the refrigerator.
2: Remove filter
3: Remove the plastic shield from around the filter housing. There is one screw located at front of the shield, on the bottom of the assembly. The camming door must be in the up position to access the screw.
4: Remove one screw which attaches the filter housing to the side of the refrigerator. This is located halfway down the side of the housing. Easy to see.
5: The filter housing is also attached to the inner wall of the refrigerator by 2 plastic tabs. Push the housing housing upward until the housing is hanging free.
6: Remove the inlet and outlet tubes which go into the rear of the filter housing. This was a bit difficult. I used a large flathead screwdriver and needle nose pliers to lever them out. This was a bit tricky and required a bit of force. Be careful not to break the tubes or deform them. You need a good seal when installing the replacement filter housing.
7: Test the new filter housing for fit. I had trouble getting the tabs on the new housing to engage into the slots on the side of the refrigerator. TIP! Shave a bit of the plastic off the inside face of the tabs to create a slight bevel so that they engage the slots.
8: Insert the inlet and outlet tubes into the new housing. Much easier than getting them out of the old one.
9: Take the housing and engage the filter housing tabs into the slots on the side of the refrigerator and push the filter housing downward. It should sit tightly flush to the side of the refrigerator and the slot for the lower mounting screw should align.
10: Screw the filter housing to the refrigerator and test the action of the filter housing cam door to ensure smooth operation with no binding.
11: install a filter cartridge and turn on the water to the refrigerator. Inspect for leaks at the inlet/outlet tubes at the rear of the filter housing.
12: Open the filter cam door, remove the filter and install the plastic housing shield with the one screw at the bottom front. reinstall the filter, close the cam door to seat the filter and you are done!

Repair & Advice
Water maker would make a knocking sound and then would stop producing water. Hardest part of replacing the part was pulling out the fridge to turn off the water.

Repair & Advice
Had attempted to order this part from another provider. That attempt was unsuccessful due to bad communication and bad customer service. Really happy you were able to step in with the right part and quick shipping.
