Problem
Pump was not working, traced it to a corroded prong in the wire connector.
Tools
Socket wrench, screw driver, good light
Repair & Advice
After running a clean cycle, identified that ice was not being made, Ice cutting grid was broken, replaced that (easy). Still no ice, then ordered new pump. Replaced pump (easy) but noted that the pump would not get power, ordered new wire harness which replacing was kinda difficult - had some hard to reach area to get wire out the back panel. Learned how to take apart the ice machine after doing it a few times - but each repair was fairly simple, Just keep track of the screws and where everything was - taking photos helps. Each repair was an hour or less, but down time for the machine was two weeks waiting for the various parts to arrive.

Problem
The connectors in the ice maker had corroded and fallen apart. Needed to replace the recirculation pump and main wire harness.
Tools
1/4" nut driver, screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
The harness is in a tight space. It goes from the bracket at the upper right of the ice bin up through the top-right corner, out the back, and down next to the compressor. I had to remove the top, the back panel, and several smaller pieces. The harness was still hidden behind the water line. This harness got the job done.

Problem
Stand-alone ice machine: not making ice - pumps not working!
Tools
socket wrench, flat head screwdriver, a few zip ties, and a good light source.
Repair & Advice
I have an ancient Kitchenaid stand-alone ice maker and had already rewired the cutting grid. I ran diagnostics mode and two pumps were faulty. I replaced both pumps (circulation and drain), and still, no ice! Since it was unlikely that two brand new pumps were dead, wiring harness was up next. I replaced that on my own in about an hour - it's a very tight squeeze to get the wiring harness through the back of the machine, but it was doable! As always, take photos and keep track of where all the parts go - you'll need to completely remove the pumps and open the back panel to access this.
