Repair & Advice
Temp sensor went bad on the ice maker and it wouldn't stop making ice so we would turn it off when it was full of ice. I think all of the turning on and off broke the start relay. The ice maker then made just a little ice and would stop all together. I heard a loud popping sound that I thought sounded like the compressor turning off. That happened repeatedly. So I replaced the start relay and also the temp sensor and now it works like it should.

Problem
Compressor would make ice for a few minutes then stop
Tools
8mm socket, screwdriver
Repair & Advice
Removed cardboard back of ice machine, turned off power, used screwdriver to pry off cover on back of compressor and removed start relay AND thermal relay. Compressor never shut down on thermal overload again, but continued to make very thin ice. Then ordered water inlet valve from PartsDr and replaced it with same tools. It is making more ice than when it was new!!! 200.00 fixed. A new unit is nearly 2,000 !!!
