Problem
Washer sounds like Space Shuttle during lift-off
Tools
Hub nut spanner wrench and hand tools
Repair & Advice
If your GE Hydro wave washer sounds like this your "mode shifter" is probably going bad. Here's what I learned doing this repair.
- A spanner wrench is a "must" for the hub {hump) nut. Soak it with rust buster or penetrating fluid the night before. Have an extra one incase it gets damaged.
-Watch the excellent videos, of course! Take notes do your homework first.
-Use your cell phone camera during disassembly.
-Since the "mode shifter comes with a new tube seal I think its a good idea to replace the "tub bearing" too. The bearing can be hard to get out. I used a large socket wrench that was close to the diameter of the bearing and a good "heavy" hammer.
-When you have the washer all back together, leave the front cover off for a few days and check for leaks.
-Good luck with your DIY job!
