Repair & Advice
So, our washer stopped working, purchased a new timer first, from partsdr, because it was off. Once we fixed that, we noticed the every now and then, agitation and spins, and then our clothes were not spinning out at all. We knew it wasn't the timer. My wife and I felt like it was the the motor. She had already been to the site looking at it, but she waited on my go ahead. Anyway, a week later I decided to call a repairman. This man had the NERVE to tell me all this technical jibberish, and that it would cost us $695.00 to fix it. I called my wife, she said the devil is a lie, that is a new washing machine. I agreed! I paid the man $ 96.00 for the service call, told him thanks, but no thanks. She came on and ordered the part. Finishing this long story, I put the new motor on, and then had to try and get the belt back on.(Note: In order to tighten the screws, they tighten to the left, and loosen by turning right) We didn't have the time to order a belt install kit, and I didn't have the patience to put it on, because my hands were to big for the job. That reattachment of that belt without a kit whooped me. A day later, my wife took over. She tried my way with one zip tie, it wasn't working, so she used two zip ties. She put the first zip tie on and turned it to the right about 8" past the belt motor thread, the part sticking up from the motor, that makes the tub spin. Then she attached the second zip tie. She slowly started turning the zip tied belt to the left, making sure to keep the belt lifted in the front as high as it could go, at the top of the piece that the belt would finally slide into, as she turned the belt. She had to keep her hands on the belt as she turned, making sure no part of it slide down. As you turn, you will feel the belt start to get hard to turn. That is the sign that the belt is about to slide into the groves. Once the belt slides down into the groves, carefully cut the zip ties off, and turn the belt a couple times more to make sure the belt is fully engaged in the front groves. Now you are all set to wash your laundry! (Note: We had our washer tilted back against the wall to get the belt on. Your back will thank you.) Putting on the part was easy. It was the belt that can be difficult without a kit. We sure hope this helps someone.
