Repair & Advice
The shaft and bracket assembly fits into the bearing retainer. The bearing retainer had wear and it was replaced along with the shaft and bracket assembly. Access to the bearing retainer requires removing the screws that hold the heating element in place and the removal of several of the wires attached to the heating element. Removal of several wires is required to swing the heating element to the left for access to the bearing retainer without completely removing the heating element. The easiest wires to remove are the ones on the right, top, and bottom of the heating element. Be careful to not damage the heating element.
The bearing retainer holes for the screws are not tapped. A screw must be inserted in the bearing retainer holes and screwed in to tap the holes. Doing this before re-assembly makes the assembly 100% easier.
The big positive of replacing the bearing retainer, you learn how to replace the heating element and the limit switches attached to the heating element.
