Repair & Advice
Expensive GE dishwasher has poorly designed door latch that fails. Fortunately, the part isn't expensive and the repair isn't overly involved. Too bad I've had to do it a couple of times already....

Problem
GE dishwasher would not start a cleaning cycle with beeping to indicate the door is open despite being closed.
Tools
Phillip's screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
Our GE dishwasher that is about 3 years old would not start a cleaning cycle. It just kept beeping to indicate the cycle was interrupted by an open door. We replaced this door latch part along with part #PD00053517 GE Main Control Board, and the problem went away. The control board is pretty easy to get too as it is just behind the kick panel of the dishwasher, and does not require the dishwasher to be removed. The door latch is on the very top of the dishwasher and it helps to pull the dishwasher out of the opening a few inches to make it easier to access.
