Problem
The broiler element on our range catastrophically failed (arced and shot sparks every where), leaving a melted/broken element.
Tools
Repair only required a Philip’s head screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
Instructions online indicated that this repair could be completed from the front, but you can avoid some frustration by taking off the back cover (see below for more information as to why). First I disconnected the oven from power source (unplug or turn off circuit in the breaker) and removed the racks from the oven. Next I removed the screw on the rear plate where the broiler element enters the back of the oven. While supporting the element, I removed to front screws holding the element brackets to the top of the oven. This is where online instructions indicated you could just pull the element forward, bringing the wiring connections through the front, disconnect them (making sure to hold them so they do not pull back through), and attach to the new broiler element. All that said, the wiring on my oven was barely long enough to even be able to see them from the front, let alone pull them any length through the hole, and actually one side pulled off and “disappeared” before I could try and grab it. This was frustrating, and I tried to fish the wire back through the hole, but there was just not enough slack in the wiring to keep things where I wanted. No worries though, as it was easy to pull the upper cover plate off the back of the oven (I think it was 6 screws along the sides, and you could flex the cover plate to get the top removed from being slid behind/clipped to the upper frame). After removing the back, I installed the broiler element, by sliding the ends were the wires would connect through the hole (not worrying about trying to connect the wires from the front), installing the rear plate screw, then the two top bracket screws. From the back, it was easy to re-attach the wiring connections. To reinstall the rear cover, you first slide the bottom into the lower cover (at the raised section in the center), flex the cover to slide the top back behind the top frame, and reinstall the screws. Reconnect to power (plug back in or turn on circuit in the breaker) and the repair is complete.

Repair & Advice
we thought it was the heating element so we changed it and it’s still doing the same thing. So it wasn’t that.

Repair & Advice
I thought my element was bad because oven wasn’t heating to set temp. Unfortunately after ordering new element and installing it, I discovered it was the control board.
