Repair & Advice
The part worked perfectly when my dryer stopped heating and began rotating poorly or loudly. This part IS COMPATIBLE with a MED5630HW2 Maytag/Whirlpool dryer. My only advice is that the blower fan to which this part attaches may fuse to the original motor and require replacement as well. Don't waste your money on Vicegrips and a chisel or hurt your wrist like I did trying to remove the stuck blower fan. If it doesn't come off with a bit of effort, just break it off with a hammer and install a new fan.
This repair has a lot of parts to keep track of.
1. UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING.
2. Don't forget where the screws go (you'll need a hex screwdriver set and a Phillips-head screwdriver as well).
3. BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS WITH THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL PANEL ATOP THE DRYER, DO NOT WET OR DAMAGE; you will effectively have to replace the dryer.
4. Keep an eye on the little arm that holds the dryer belt--knowing where to put that back is important.
5. Some of the sheet metal edges can be quite sharp. Do yourself a favor and wear gloves and long sleeves, and don't drop them.
