Repair & Advice
The front drum seal was torn and had apparently jammed. Replacing the felt seal is very easy, you just slip the new one on, videos are widely available. I'd recommend also checking the plastic "bearing ring" on the drum. In my case the bearing ring end had come loose, and may have caused the felt seal to jam and tear. I ended up replacing the bearing ring also, because the little plastic tabs that hold it in place were snapped off, and I was concerned that not replacing this part would cause the new felt seal to jam. Also note that my dryer is an older model with 3 plastic alignment pins to hold the felt seal on. The new seals only have 2 holes for the alignment pins. I simply popped the middle pin out, and left the two other pins that are used to align the new belt - no problems.
