Repair & Advice
Maytag MVWC360AW0 - I was able to do the job without taking the top of the machine apart and removing the basket from the tub. After you unbolt the washplate and slide it off the splines, remove the plastic retainer clip. Then you can use a phillips screw driver to remove the hub from the basket, while leaving the basket in the tub. After that, get the washer up in the air and do the bottom stuff. The new gearcase output shaft comes with fresh grease on the splines and a new tub seal installed on it, too. When I removed the old gearcase, the old tub seal stayed in place on the tub instead, so I had to carefully pick it out of there without scratching the plastic surface. The nut that holds the pulley to the bottom of the input shaft on the gearcase had blue threadlocker on it, not sure how important it is, but I used some when installing that pulley on the new one just in case. Also helps to have an impact driver to remove the nut, as the whole assembly wants to rotate if you use a ratchet. Everything else was pretty straight forward-- almost everything on the underside of the machine unscrews or unbolts, except the capacitor, which you have to rotate the whole thing a quarter of a turn to remove if I remember right.
