Slip joint pliers
Rotory tool with cutting blade
Rags
Repair & Advice
To do the repair ...
You need to cut a square hole with the rotary tool about 5" down the side from the top of the agitator. THE HOLE IS MADE ON ANY SIDE of the agitator and big enough to insert your pliers to grab hold of the transmission shaft. Pry up agitator cap with screwdriver then loosen the 7/16 bolt while holding the transmission shaft with pliers through the hole you made in agitator. Once bolt is out ,remove agitator by pulling up on it.. Now clean tub and transmission shaft with rags. Install new agitator on clean transmission spline.
Tighten 7/16 bolt down.. ( don't over tighten )
Replace agitator cap.
GOOD LUCK
