The shaft in the timer mechanism was broken and needed to be replaced.
Tools
Screwdrivers, pliers.
Repair & Advice
I removed the back panel disconnected the connectors, squeezed the two metal tabs on the top and bottom of the old timer mechanism, and removed. I reconnected the connectors on the new timer mechanism, pushed the timers back over the locking tabs and put the back panel back on. ** The timer mechanisms come with different number of metal tabs, make sure you order the right one!
