Service tech diagnosed bad control board.

Screwdriver.

Relative easy replacement of the control board. But it was a big fail as the control board seems to have not been the problem to begin with. Now I have two control boards that are likely fine.

Heating element no longer working

#15 and #20 star drivers and voltmeter

Power off; water off; remove front cover from machine; took a picture of the wires on the control board with my phone; tested blue pins 1 and 2 on plug #1. Had continuity. This verified that heating element was OK. Checked pins 4 and 6 on the last plug (yellow wires) and this was OK as well. This meant that the optical sensor was OK as well. One of the internet sites reported that relays go bad on the control board frequently, so I decided to try a new board. It arrived in 2 or 3 days, I installed it, and all the heating functions have returned to normal.

Not running full wash cycle, leaving detergent pod undissolved and dishes dirty.

Torx driver, flathead screw driver

Turn off the power to the dishwasher at the electrical panel. Remove all Torx screws holding the inner and outer door shell together (top four screws are longer). The inner and outer panels will separate. Note how the outer panel fits into the inner panel (this caused me the most problems on reassembly). The Control board is attached to the top of the inner panel. Remove by lifting the locking tab on top of the board with a flat-head screwdriver and slide the board to left. Take note of the wire harness and connector box cover attachment to the board and remove the wire harness brace and connector box cover. Remove all electrical connectors (I took a picture with my phone even though the wiring is color coded to the socket and labeled on the control board) and remove. Reconnect the wiring to the new control board and reattach the wire harness and connector box cover. Attach the control board to the inner panel by lining up tabs on the control board with slots on the inner panel and slide the control board to the right until it clicks in place. Reinstall the outer door panel making sure the screw holes line up and screw it in place.
