Glass cooktop was cracked.

Screwdriver and ratchet.
Repair & Advice
Turn off the circuit breaker to the cooktop. Remove the knobs. Lift the cooktop and set it on the countertop. Remove the nuts that hold the cooktop glass to the burner console. Remove the old glass and place the new glass top on top of the burner console. Fasten the new glass top to the burner console. Put the knobs back on. Lower the cooktop back into the countertop. Turn on the circuit breaker.
