Deteriorating door gaskets on Maytag refrigerator

No tools needed

I followed online advice from others. It was just a matter of pulling out the old one and pushing in the new one. If you can change a water filter, you can change a gasket. I’m glad I looked it up first instead of calling a repairman!

Removal of old gasket and installation of new one was very, very simple. Be sure to follow the instructions to lay out the new gasket to flatten it out and soften it a bit. We put ours on a table in the sun for about 20 min. just before installing it. It goes around the door like a rubber band. The whole process took about 5 minutes plus the warming time. There was no exasperation or swearing involved. Appliance repair folks wanted $150 to do this plus $135 for the gasket and would not guarantee a good fit. This is most definitely a DIY project, and your parts were perfect. Thanks.

None. Soak in hot water before or use a heat gun

Soak in water push on to the door if any wrinkles heat it up with heat gun but don’t over heat
