Disconnect fuse/breaker, disconnect brackets securing cooktop to counter, raise cooktop. unscrew the screws securing the glass to the cooktop, remove glass, put new glass in place, reverse process. After installed, I place black silicone between the glass and the counter so that any fluids spilled on the counter during use will not flow under your cooktop and into your lower cabinet area. It also helps secure the cooktop in place. Measure your front edge on each side to make sure the cooktop is straight before you start the silicone. If this was done and you have granite counter tops you should gently slide a razor along the silicone to disconnect the seal before you lift your cooktop. Failure to do this could make the cooktop difficult to lift and the silicone can pull off a layer of your granite. As for Parts Dr., this was our first purchase. Fantastic price and service. I will definately be back. We love our current cooktop. New ones are outrageously priced and the burners are not in the same place. This sounds minor but depending on you set up, burner placment is an important factor. The new glass is beautiful and we are very very happy.

I replaced a cracked glass cooktop. The cooktop glass itself was extremely easy to swap out, just about anyone can do it. The replacement glass cooktop did not come with the stainless steel trim pieces but they were easy to remove from the broken cooktop with the use of a heat gun.

My husband, ha ha ! Sorry I had to say that , he’s not here right now , so I’m not sure what he used. He did say that he didn’t have to go under the house to rewire the electric, he was able to take it out from underneath the counter , clean out the broken glass , and put the new one in.

This place is a lifesaver, we had been living with our cracked cook top (our daughter cracked with a pot) for over a year it had gotten multiple cracks within that year and we had no choice but to keep using it because we couldn’t afford a new one, I thought it was becoming a fire hazard, within just a couple days of ordering, our new cooktop was at our door, it was just as if we ordered a whole new cook top, my husband was able to install it easier , than he thought and it was replaced that day, what an improvement it looks like we bought a whole new cooktop, and we saved a lot of money not having to buy a whole new one , I was surprised that you actually still carried a part for our 20 year old cooktop ! , I’m so glad we ordered from you .
