Problem
My Maytag dishwasher, model MDB8959SBS, would fill with water and then try to start 3 or 4 times (I put my head next to it and could hear a buzz 3 or 4 times) and then give up. Then the water in the tub drained out. Per someone else's experience, I purchased this part and it fixed my problem.
Tools
Screwdriver, pliers, adjustable wrench
Repair & Advice
Shut off the water supply, remove the 2 screws attaching it to the counter. Remove the lower trim panel by pulling the two plugs out, adjust the two front feet upward, slide it out and unplug. Tip it on it's side but have some towels ready because you will get some water on the floor. Remove the capacitor on the pump and replace with your new one. Reverse steps to put back in place. Brag to your wife about how much money you just saved her as she's heading out the door to go shopping.

Problem
Prior dishwasher capacitor was leaking electrolytic fluid after 23 years.
Tools
Adjustable wrench or socket wrench with socket for the capacitor connector nut.
Repair & Advice
This is a simple fix. Although, I don't know if it matters which electrical line connects to which tab plug contact. So, I looked for a YouTube video that showed the major component this capacitor was connected to in order to see the same capacitor electrical line connections.
After I had the capacitor in the right orientation that was the same as the one in the video, I was able to connect the electrical lines to the same tab plug contacts. Taking a a simple smartphone pic or documenting the connections before disconnecting the electrical lines would have been a good idea ahead of time.
