Problem
Burner knob would not turn - couldn't use the burner.
Tools
Screwdriver and metric box wrench.
Repair & Advice
Needed to repair the center burner on my Kitchen-Aid range. Knob would push in but not turn. Tried troubleshooting a bit with some lubricant as noted on another website, no difference. Took about 15 minutes to swap out the valve with a screwdriver and wrench and now it works great.

Problem
One of the stove gas valves no longer turned. The stove is about 20 years old and would cost over $2000.00 to replace.
Tools
Phillips screwdriver, open end wrench and adjustable wrench.
Repair & Advice
Slide the stove out from the wall to access the gas shut off valve and close the valve. Access the stove top burner valves by removing the chrome cover. The chrome cover is held on by a bracket acccessed by opening the oven door. Once the chrome cover is off you can remove the bad gas valve.
Overall it’s straightforward but you need decent mechanical appitude. Note you are dealing with gas (danger) so this repair needs to be done correctly with no leaks. I used soap suds to check for gas leaks once I installed the new valve.
