Problem
It seemed to be very hot and the back screen had burned stuff in it. i was concerned the high limit switch was not turning off the heater at the right temperature.
Tools
Screwgun for quick screw removal, needle nose pliers (helps to remove tight electrical connections)
Repair & Advice
Unplug the dryer. Double check everytime you work in the area. Some dryer tops dont simply pop up using a putty knife. In my case i simply needed to remove two screws from the front bottom panel, then remove the panel. This revealed two more screws to be removed. This allowed the entire door assembly to pivot out and off. The switch was on back wall at left just above the air vent, but tough to reach. So I continued to prop open the top. Reached under the drum to the pulley and released the belt. Tip- use your phone and take photos of stuff before you remove or unhook anything; you may be glad you did! Remove the drum and belt together by lifting it up and out. Take photo of the switch, then unhook the wires and unscrew the switch. I tested the switch for continuity and it tested good, but I replaced it anyway. Same for the fuse, which I replaced at the same time in the same way while I was in there. Reverse the process to pit it back together. Replacing the belt on the pulley is the toughest part. You have your photos and can look up videos on the technique. It's not too hard once you see how. In the end i tested the dryer's heating cycle temperatures using a typical thermometer that can measure oven temperature high and low cycle temps. I found that the 'Timed cycle' section of the dial resulted in very hot temps, so we dont use that part of the dial any longer. I guess that means I need a new control dial which is probably over 100$. Will skip that job for now.

Problem
Amana dryer, no heat
Tools
Screwdriver, 5/16 wrench
Repair & Advice
No heat. My thermal fuse was shorted out. Service manual says to always replace high limit thermostat when replacing thermal fuse, so I replaced both.
Dryer is heating fine now.
