Problem
Broken Mullion Spring.
Tools
Phillips screwdriver, plastic trim removal tool.
Repair & Advice
Refrigerator LMX28988ST/01. When selecting this spring it will tell you that this will not fit your model or something like that, but it does. It's confusing and unclear. During my research it's described as 6 (not 5) coils or clockwise spring... etc. THIS is the spring you need. The other spring will fit but it's slightly smaller. To install, with the plastic trim tool, pry off the 3 plastic clips located on the top, middle and bottom sections of the mullion. Start carefully prying from the top part of each clip. Remove the 2 screws and lift up. This will allow you to slip the spring into place. Much easier than bending the screw and forcing it in, you risk breaking the plastic spring slot/hole holder or bending the metal screw. Just don't. Look for a video on the web, someone has already done this install. Good luck.

Problem
Mullion spring broken not allowing mullion to be in proper position to close.
Tools
Screwdriver
Repair & Advice
Just make sure you order the correct spring as the manufacture's parts diagram is not very good and there are two different springs depending on when your fridge was made. One twosts clockwise and the other counter clockwise.

Problem
Spring broke, left door would close properly.
Tools
Pliers to compress spring, needlenose to bend into place.
Repair & Advice
Door spring broke so we needed a new one. This one was slightly longer and was an extremely tight fit. I thought for sure I was going to break the plastic pieces it slides into on the doors. Make sure to compress the spring to give yourself a slightly easier fit. I still felt uncomfortable bending the spring on an angle to fit into plastic tube on the door.
