Problem
Door boot became smelly and discolored (mold?).
Tools
Standard, nothing special; vise-grip is useful to remove and mount the spring around the door boot.
Repair & Advice
Putting on the innerspring proved challenging but with suitable force to pull, it can be done.

Problem
Moldy boot seal.
Tools
Spring pliers, screwdriver.
Repair & Advice
Seal worked great, exact replacement. Make sure you have spring pliers that open wide enough for the two springs that hold the cables around the seal. I bought a cheap one online that worked fine for the outer spring but did not open wide enough for the inner spring so I had to attach some zip ties to get more leverage. Replacement would have been a breeze if the pliers I bought opened wider. I also did not remove the front panel because my units are stacked. This made things a little more tricky but if you remove the front panel this job should be simple. I gave it a higher difficulty rating because I opted to keep the front panel on and my pliers were not ideal (both my issues). The seal itself was perfect and so far so good, no more mold or stinky clothes!

Repair & Advice
Our washer was starting to smell and was effecting our clothes. We tried washing machine cleaners but they did not work. Finally purchased a replacement door boot seal and replaced it. It was a good thing too because the seal was disgusting with mold in areas that could never be cleaned without removal. This part appears to be good quality and a near direct fit. I would suggest watching a video on removal and replacement as well as getting a spring expansion tool. I tried to replace the spring clamps without the tool and got very frustrated, ended up buying the tool anyway. Fairly easy to do with the right tools. I had to remove my dryer from atop the washer though. This part fit pretty good but I had some minor difficulties with the side drain ports not lining up quite like I thought they should.
