Repair & Advice
Basic Description:
It is easier to accomplish many of these steps with 2 people.
REMOVAL:
1. Unplug the unit.
2. Remove the back shield of the unit, approximately 8 screws.
3. Open oven door and remove screws under the control know panel, approximately 4 screws.
4. Control panel needs to be removed. See additional notes below. ******
5. Once control panel is released, unplug the control panel from the elements. It is best to mark each plug uniquely so they are plugged correctly when reinstalling.
6. Remove 2 screws in the front of the cook top.
7. Remove 2 screws in the rear of the cook top.
8. Cook top can be removed at this time.
To remove the control panel, once the screws are removed, angle the bottom of the control panel about 45 degrees. The top of the control panel is hooked to a seat in the upper right and left corner. Avoid too much pressure so that the panel is not damaged. Lift control panel above the seat until it is released.
REMOVAL OF THE ELEMENT HOUSING:
1. Lay the old cook top on a flat surface.
2. Lay the new cook top on a flat surface, protecting the glass. Make sure that both cook tops are in the same direction.
3. ***Make note how element panel and insulation are positioned.
4. Remove 2 screws from the back of the element housing along with 4 screws on each side.
5. In the rear of the element housing, you should see 2 prongs; this is the electronic bracket and indicator. Slightly elevate the rear of the element housing and reach in to unfold the 2 arm sleeves that hold it in place. For reference, you can view the sleeves on the new cook top.
6. Once unfolded you can remove the element housing.
REVERSE THE STEPS TO REINSTALL.
